The Effectiveness of Sociodrama Technique in Reducing Verbal Bullying Among Junior High School Students

Abstract
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of sociodrama techniques in reducing verbal bullying among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Kalibaru. The study employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving six students identified as engaging in verbal bullying as participants. Verbal bullying behavior was measured using a validated and reliable scale, while the intervention was conducted through group counseling sessions using sociodrama over six meetings. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test to determine the significance of changes between pretest and posttest scores. The results showed a decrease in the average bullying score from 84.5 to 62.5, with all students exhibiting improved behavior, indicating the effectiveness of sociodrama techniques in reducing verbal bullying. These findings provide significant implications for the development of school counseling services, particularly in addressing aggressive verbal behavior and enhancing students’ socio-emotional skills.
