The Effect of Art Drawing Therapy Techniques on the Development of Emotion Regulation in Introverted Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
Emotional regulation is a vital skill that supports adolescents' psychological well-being but remains a challenge for introverted students who struggle with verbal emotional expression. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of art drawing therapy in improving emotional regulation among introverted students. Employing a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design, the participants were eighth-grade students identified as introverts using a personality inventory. The intervention consisted of five drawing therapy sessions conducted over one week, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.05), indicating that art drawing therapy effectively enhanced students’ emotional regulation. These findings highlight the value of art-based therapy as a humanistic and inclusive alternative counseling approach, particularly for students with emotional communication difficulties.
