Efektivitas Zinc Untuk Atasi Diare Pada Balita

Abstrak—Latar Belakang: Diare merupakan salah satu penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas pada balita, terutama di negara berkembang. Pemberian zinc telah direkomendasikan WHO dan UNICEF sebagai bahan dari tata laksana standar diare anak, karena terbukti mempercepat kesembuhan dan mencegah kambuhnya diare.Tujuan: Menganalisis efektivitas suplementasi zinc terhadap kesembuhan balita dengan diare Metode: Studi observasional analitik potong lintang pada 40 balita (usia 6-59 bulan). Dua puluh balita mendapatkan zinc (10-20mg/hari sesuai usia + oralit, sedangkan 20 balita lainnya hanya mendapat oralit. Kesembuhan di evaluasi pada hari ke-7. Analisis menggunakan uji Chi-square. Hasil: Dari 20 balita yang diberi zinc , 15(75%) sembuh; sedangkan dari 20 balita tanpa zinc hanya 7 (355) sembuh. Uji Chi-square menunjukan perbedaan bermakna (X2 = 4,85; p = 0,028). Kesimpulan: Suplementasi zinc terbukti efektif mempercepat kesembuhan pada balita yang sedang mengalami diare.
