Abstrak
This study aims to determine the effect of static flexibility exercises on inferior extremity joints of the elderly who are older than 60 years old. The research method uses a quantitative approach through the one-group pretest-posttest design experiment. The population is 40 elderly and the purposive sampling technique to determine the sample obtain 34 elderly. The instrument used in this study is the chair sit-and-reach test. Accordingly, the study has been conducted from February 19th, until April 20th, 2019. Data analysis is obtained through SPSS version 16. Hence, the results of the chair sit-and-reach test is the average of initial test value of 0.56 cm and a final test of 4.51 cm with a significance value or p-value of 0.000 <0.05, so static flexibility exercises have a positive and significant impact on the elderly inferior extremity joints. To achieve the training objectives for improvement of joints of the elderly, flexibility exercises training must follow the training rules that are in accordance with their ability.
