Abstrak
This study aims to authenticate the effect of 2.8% dehydration on 400-meter running performance. The research problem is based on the lacking of hydration level awareness while performing physical activities. Hence, the study on the effect of 2.8% dehydration on sports performance is important to be carried out. This research applies one group pre-test and post-test design. The samples consist of 25 sports coaching education students; 6 females and 19 males. The procedures performed are body weight measurement, 400-meter running test, and dehydration calculation of 2.8% of body weight. The treatment for dehydration is up to 2.8% in passive sunbathing wearing a raincoat. The result shows that the data is not normally distributed. The significance of the Wilcoxon test is 0.000, which means there are statistically significant differences in running achievement before and after dehydration. The average travel time increases from 112.48 seconds to 146.32 seconds, which means 30% increase. The suggestions of this study, especially for performance sports, are the athlete's hydration level must be monitored so that performance does not decrease drastically, and fluid intake should be managed appropriately.
