Pengaruh Oksidasi Termal terhadap Kekerasan Permukaan, Ketebalan Oxide Scale, dan Morfologi Paduan Ti-29Nb-13Ta-4.6Zr

Paduan Ti-29Nb-13Ta-4.6Zr (TNTZ), dengan modulus elastisitas rendah dan biokompatibilitas yang baik, dapat digunakan sebagai implan. Namun, untuk membuatnya lebih tahan terhadap gesekan dan kerusakan, sifat permukaannya harus ditingkatkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat bagaimana oksidasi termal mempengaruhi kekerasan permukaan, ketebalan skala oksida, dan morfologi permukaan TNTZ pada suhu 600°C, 700°C, dan 800°C dengan waktu tahan 2, 6, 24, dan 48 jam. Grinding, polishing, dan pembersihan ultrasonik dilakukan sebelum spesimen dipanaskan dalam tungku dengan suhu 5 °C/menit. Kekerasan diuji menggunakan metode Vickers, ketebalan skala oksida diukur dengan Gauge Ketebalan GM 280, dan morfologi diamati melalui pengamatan visual dan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kekerasan lapisan permukaan secara konsisten ditingkatkan oleh oksidasi termal; selama 48 jam, nilai tertinggi mencapai 502 HV pada 800°C. Dengan pengamatan SEM, lapisan oksida semakin tebal, kasar, dan berpori pada temperatur tinggi. Namun, nilai yang diperoleh menunjukkan ketebalan skala oksida keseluruhan, bukan lapisan TiO2 kompak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun oksidasi termal dapat meningkatkan kualitas permukaan TNTZ, kondisi ekstrim dapat menghasilkan partikel oksida berlebih dan menurunkan stabilitas mekanik logam dasar. Oleh karena itu, temperatur yang ideal disarankan antara 600 dan 700°C.
