Abstract

Inhibitor korosi alami dari limbah biomassa telah menarik perhatian karena lebih ramah lingkungan dan berpotensi menggantikan inhibitor sintetis yang bersifat toksik. Namun, kajian mengenai kitosan dari cangkang udang sebagai inhibitor korosi aluminium dalam media HCl masih terbatas, terutama yang menghubungkan hasil eksperimen elektrokimia dengan mekanisme adsorpsi secara komputasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi efektivitas kitosan cangkang udang sebagai inhibitor korosi aluminium dalam media HCl serta menjelaskan mekanisme inhibisinya melalui pendekatan potensiodinamik polarisasi, perhitungan kimia kuantum, dan simulasi Monte Carlo. Pengujian dilakukan pada aluminium dalam larutan HCl tanpa dan dengan penambahan kitosan pada berbagai konsentrasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kitosan mampu menurunkan laju korosi aluminium dengan efisiensi inhibisi maksimum sebesar 88% pada konsentrasi 3000 ppm. Penurunan kerapatan arus korosi mengindikasikan terbentuknya lapisan adsorptif pada permukaan aluminium yang menghambat reaksi anodik dan katodik. Perhitungan kimia kuantum menunjukkan bahwa atom O dan N, gugus hidroksil, dan gugus amina berperan sebagai pusat aktif adsorpsi. Simulasi Monte Carlo mengonfirmasi orientasi adsorpsi yang stabil pada permukaan aluminium. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada integrasi pendekatan eksperimen dan komputasi untuk menjelaskan mekanisme inhibisi kitosan dari limbah cangkang udang. Penelitian ini berkontribusi dalam pengembangan inhibitor korosi alami, ekonomis, dan ramah lingkungan untuk perlindungan aluminium dalam media asam.
