The editorial board of English Education: Journal of English Teaching and Research proudly announces the publication of Volume 11 Number 1, May 2026. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all authors, reviewers, editors, and academic contributors whose dedication and scholarly commitment have made this publication possible. We highly appreciate the valuable contributions from researchers and academics representing various higher education institutions across Indonesia. Their studies have enriched the discourse in English language teaching, learning, and research through diverse perspectives and innovative findings.

The articles published in Volume 11 Number 1 May 2026 of English Education: Journal of English Teaching and Research reflect contemporary developments and emerging issues in English language teaching and learning, particularly within the Indonesian EFL context. Collectively, the studies highlight the growing integration of technology, innovative pedagogical strategies, classroom interaction, learner engagement, and reflective teaching practices in English education. Several articles focus on the integration of digital technology and artificial intelligence in language learning. Topics such as the use of the ELSA Speak application for pronunciation learning, QuillBot for paraphrasing in thesis writing, ChatGPT-assisted speaking practice, WhatsApp Voice Notes for speaking improvement, Padlet-based reading strategies, and systematic review of ChatGPT in reading comprehension demonstrate the increasing role of technology-enhanced learning in supporting students’ language development. These studies reveal how digital tools can foster learner autonomy, interaction, motivation, and language proficiency.

Another major theme in this issue is the exploration of teaching strategies and classroom practices. Articles discussing delegator teaching style, translanguaging practices, SQ3R reading strategy, cooperative learning experiences, and digital game-based learning illustrate diverse pedagogical approaches used to improve students’ critical thinking, comprehension, communication, and classroom participation. These studies emphasize student-centred learning and interactive classroom environments as essential elements in effective English instruction. Teacher reflection and classroom discourse also become important concerns in this volume. The studies on EFL teachers’ critical incident experiences and teachers’ directive speech acts investigate how teachers reflect on their instructional practices and manage classroom communication. These articles contribute to a deeper understanding of teacher professionalism, reflective practice, and teacher-student interaction in English classrooms. In addition, several articles examine academic writing and assessment. Research on writing assessment types in English textbooks and students’ engagement and challenges in academic writing classrooms highlights the importance of assessment literacy, learner engagement, and writing support in developing students’ academic competencies.

We also extend our deepest appreciation to all peer reviewers for their insightful feedback and rigorous evaluation process, which have significantly contributed to maintaining the academic quality and integrity of the journal. Our gratitude is likewise addressed to the editorial team for their dedication and professionalism throughout the publication process. We hope that the articles published in this issue will contribute meaningfully to the advancement of English language teaching and research, and inspire further scholarly collaboration in the field of English education.
