Abstract

The agriculture and livestock sector is a significant source of livelihood in Banyuwangi Regency. Bangsring Village is one of the villages with high agricultural and livestock potential, including the cultivation of corn, chili, cattle and goats. Currently in Bangsring Village there is a livestock group actively engaged in goat farming activities. The livestock waste produced includes solid manure and goat urine. So far there has been no utilization and processing of livestock waste, usually livestock waste is dumped into rivers and accumulates, thus disrupting environmental and public health. To address the existing problem, the Banyuwangi State Polytechnic community service team implemented a community empowerment program in the form of organic fertilizer production by utilizing goat manure and urine waste with IoT (Internet of Things)-based fermentation adaptation. The empowerment activity was carried out in 5 stages consisting of the survey stage, socialization, biofertilizer production practice, creation of a temperature control system and monitoring. The socialization activity was attended by 15 active members of the livestock group, where all group members have successfully produced two types of biofertilizer: solid goat manure fertilizer and POC (liquid organic fertilizer) goat urine. The biofertilizer product successfully produced by the Bangsring Village livestock group is the result of adapting Appropriate Technology provided by the Community Service Team.
