Abstrak
Water therapy is very effective to overcome pain, fatigue, and muscular endurance. The purpose of this study was to test and determine the effectiveness of warm, cold, and contrast water therapy on pain, fatigue and muscular endurance, among badminton players of Yogyakarta State University. The method used in this study was the quasi experimental design with three group time series. The samples were obtained through purposive sampling. However, the data collection was carried out using tests and measurements. The instruments used to measure pain, fatigue and muscular endurance were numerical rating scales, whole body reactions and wall sit, respectively. Data analysis was carried out using analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique. The results of this study showed that warm water therapy was effective in relieving fatigue and increasing muscular endurance with a significance value of 0.008 and 0.002 respectively. Furthermore, it showed that cold water therapy was effective in reducing pain with a significance value of 0.048 and contrast water therapy had an effect on pain, fatigue and muscle endurance with a significance value of 0.001, 0.004 and 0.001, respectively. Therefore, warm water was the most effective water therapy to relieve fatigue while contrast water was most effective in reducing pain and increasing muscular endurance.
