Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the literacy skills of students at the Miftahul Ulum Putra Islamic Boarding School in Gondanglegi through comprehensive journalism training. The low level of skill in analyzing information and the dominance of textual-religious literacy are the main reasons for the urgency of this activity amid information disruption. The method used is participatory assistance, which includes preparation, technical training (news writing, features, and opinion pieces), ongoing mentoring, and program evaluation. The results show a significant transformation in the intellectual capacity of the students, marked by their ability to distinguish facts from opinions and their proficiency in producing journalistic work that meets communication ethics standards. Furthermore, this program succeeded in forming a community of santri journalists as agents of change and revitalizing the pesantren's internal media, both in print and digital forms. This success reflects the harmonious integration of traditional pesantren literacy with modern information skills, which strengthens the role of santri in critical and transformative digital da'wah. As a recommendation, there is a need to expand the partnership network with external media institutions and develop a multimedia curriculum to ensure the sustainability of literacy culture in the pesantren environment
