Authorship Criteria

Kriteria Pengarangan (Authorship Criteria)

JAE (Jurnal Akuntansi dan Ekonomi) is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects the significant intellectual contributions of individuals involved in research and manuscript preparation. Authorship entails both recognition of scholarly contributions and responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the published work.

  1. Authorship Eligibility

Individuals listed as authors of manuscripts submitted to JAE (Jurnal Akuntansi dan Ekonomi) must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
  2. Writing and Intellectual Review: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing it for important intellectual content.
  3. Final Approval: Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.
  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work and ensure that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All individuals listed as authors must satisfy all four criteria. Individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research should be given the opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation or critical review and to approve the final version.

  1. Contributions That Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Contributions that do not independently justify authorship include, but are not limited to, providing funding, general supervision, administrative assistance, technical support, language editing, proofreading, or other limited services.

Individuals whose contributions do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately in the manuscript, with their consent. Their contributions must be described accurately and must not be presented as substantial scholarly contributions if they were not.

  1. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, and publication processes.

The corresponding author must ensure that:

  • All listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.
  • All authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission to JAE (Jurnal Akuntansi dan Ekonomi).
  • The author information, affiliations, and order of authors are accurate.
  • All authors are informed of the submission status and significant editorial decisions.
  • Relevant declarations, disclosures, and supporting documents are provided when required by the journal.

The corresponding author must not include individuals as authors without their knowledge and consent.

  1. Order of Authors

The order of authors should be determined collectively by all authors based on their respective contributions and mutual agreement. JAE (Jurnal Akuntansi dan Ekonomi) does not prescribe a universal formula for determining author order.

All authors must agree to the final author list and its order before manuscript submission. Any disagreement concerning authorship or author order should first be addressed among the authors and, where necessary, referred to their affiliated institutions for resolution.

  1. Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be submitted to the editorial office with a clear explanation and written agreement from all affected authors, including any author being added or removed.

The editorial team will assess the request and determine whether the proposed change is justified and consistent with publication ethics. Changes in authorship must not be made without appropriate justification and the required consent.

Requests for changes after acceptance or publication will be considered in accordance with the journal's editorial policies and applicable publication ethics principles.

  1. Unethical Authorship Practices

JAE (Jurnal Akuntansi dan Ekonomi) does not accept unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Gift or Guest Authorship: Listing individuals as authors who have not made sufficient scholarly contributions.
  • Ghost Authorship: Excluding individuals who have made qualifying scholarly contributions without appropriate justification.
  • Honorary Authorship: Granting authorship based solely on academic title, position, seniority, funding, or supervisory authority.
  • Unauthorized Authorship Changes: Adding, removing, or changing the order of authors without appropriate justification and consent.
  • Misrepresentation of Contributions: Providing false or misleading statements about the contributions of individual authors.

Suspected violations may be investigated by the editorial team. Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, appropriate action may include requesting clarification, returning the manuscript for correction, rejecting the submission, or taking further action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

  1. Use of Artificial Intelligence in Authorship

Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of scholarly work.

Authors remain fully responsible for the content of their manuscripts, including any material generated or assisted by AI tools. The use of AI must comply with JAE (Jurnal Akuntansi dan Ekonomi)'s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, including applicable disclosure requirements.

  1. Authorship Disputes and Editorial Action

Authors are expected to resolve authorship disputes collaboratively and in good faith. The editorial team may request explanations, written confirmations, or other relevant documentation when concerns arise.

The journal does not act as an adjudicator of disputes over individual contributions. When authors cannot reach an agreement, the editorial team may refer the matter to the relevant institution or research organization for investigation and may suspend editorial processing until the issue is resolved.

JAE (Jurnal Akuntansi dan Ekonomi) reserves the right to take appropriate editorial action when authorship requirements are not met or when misleading authorship information is identified.

Commitment to Responsible Authorship

All authors submitting manuscripts to JAE (Jurnal Akuntansi dan Ekonomi) are expected to uphold transparency, fairness, accountability, and academic integrity. Accurate attribution of contributions is essential to maintaining trust in scholarly communication and the credibility of published research.
