Peningkatan Kualitas dan Daya Saing Abon Ikan Lele melalui Penerapan Mesin Spinner dan Inovasi Kemasan di PKK Desa Ngogri

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve the quality and competitiveness of catfish floss produced by the PKK group in Ngogri Village, Jombang. The partners' main constraints were manual oil draining, which resulted in relatively high residual oil, and the use of conventional ziplock packaging that provided limited product protection and visual appeal. A participatory empowerment approach was implemented through socialization, training, direct application of an appropriate technology spinner, packaging education and innovation, mentoring, and sustainability planning. Ten PKK members participated in the knowledge evaluation using pre-test and post-test instruments. The average knowledge score increased from 73 to 96, representing a 23-point increase or 31.5% relative to the pre-test score, and all participants achieved a post-test score of at least 90. Practical implementation showed that the spinner facilitated a more systematic oil-draining process, while metalized packaging provided a more protective and marketable packaging alternative. A standardized production and packaging guidebook was also developed and distributed to support continued adoption. The program therefore strengthened partner capacity and provided practical production and packaging improvements that support the competitiveness of the local catfish floss product.
