Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of shallot farmers in utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology through the SMARTBULB (Smart Farming for Shallot Farmers) application as a real-time monitoring system for shallot field conditions. The target of the activity is GAPOKTAN Bhakti Manunggal, Dringu Village, Probolinggo Regency, with 12 participants. The implementation method includes: (1) socialization of the smart farming concept, (2) training on the use of the SMARTBULB application, (3) installation of sensor devices and field assistance, and (4) monitoring and evaluation of the results of the technology application. The results of the activity show that farmers are able to operate the SMARTBULB application to monitor soil moisture and regulate irrigation patterns more efficiently. In addition, there is a savings in irrigation water use of 15–25% and an increase in plant health as indicated by more uniform growth of bulbs and leaves. This activity has a positive impact on increasing knowledge, technological independence, and the effectiveness of smart farming-based shallot cultivation at the farmer community level.
