Abstract

Poverty in coastal areas is one of the unresolved problems and requires efforts to improve welfare. Small-scale fishermen groups have weaknesses in marine resource management so that they are included in the socially and economically vulnerable groups. The use of traditional tools that are less efficient is a factor causing the vulnerability experienced by fishermen groups today. Previous research results state that fishermen groups need fish finder technology to increase catches. Training and provision of fish finders, socialization and training in the use of fish finder technology to fishermen groups in Pulo Sarok Village, Singkil District, Aceh Singkil Regency is one of the empowerment efforts to increase profit margins and operational cost efficiency. This empowerment is carried out using socialization methods, operational training, to the application of fish finder technology in everyday life. Socialization of the importance of fish finders in fishing activities succeeded in increasing the understanding of the participants. Training and demonstration of the equipment went well and was followed enthusiastically by the fishermen. The confidence and independence of the fishermen increased when they were given the opportunity to apply fish finder technology directly in their daily lives. They also succeeded in applying the training materials given the previous day. The entire series of community service activities are a form of concrete support for fishermen groups so that they are able to utilize modern, advanced technology.
